Seattle's shade company since 1896
Custom shade, designed and installed by Rainier Shade
We started as Seattle Tent & Awning Co. in 1896. More than 125 years later, we still design, install and service shade for homes and businesses across the Puget Sound, and we build commercial awnings and canopies in our own Tukwila shop.

For homeowners, we help you use your deck or patio more of the year. Our retractable awnings extend shade at the touch of a button, motorized retractable screens block sun, wind and bugs without blocking the view, and louvered pergolas and patio covers keep you dry through a Northwest winter. Add patio heaters and the season gets longer still.
For businesses, we design and fabricate commercial awnings and canopies in fabric, metal and glass, with in-house drafting, stamped drawings through our partner engineer, and permits handled for you. Our awning recover and repair team can put new fabric and graphics on an existing frame, even if someone else built it.
Every project starts with a free, no-obligation consultation. We measure, help you choose fabric and controls, and give you a clear quote. After install, we stay on to clean, service and repair what we install. We work across the greater Puget Sound, from Everett to Olympia, and travel to the Olympic Peninsula and the San Juan Islands for the right project.
